10 Reasons You Should Start A Podcast in 2024...

Okay, you’re on the fence about starting a podcast – we think we can convince you…

The world of podcasting has exploded, offering business owners, brand builders and marketers an exciting new way to connect with their audience.

But I know what you might be thinking… “I don’t have an audience”, “I don’t have the confidence to”, or “Will I have enough content to speak about?”.

10 Reasons to Start a Podcast - man recording podcast in Bulletproof Studios.

Well buckle up, because here are 10 reasons why you should start your own podcast today! 👊

1. Brand Building

When you start your own podcast, you are putting your brand out there in a whole different way to potentially a whole different audience. You are showing that you have authority on your topic, and you are worth listening to which helps build credibility for your brand.

And don’t forget, podcasts are also a great way of building your personal brand and add a whole new layer to it. Cut above the personal branding noise with your podcast, personality shines through and this is a great way to add allure and genuine appeal of your brand.

2. Give Your Audience MORE

If you already have an engaged audience who are opening your emails, digesting your social content, reading your emails and blog posts – then a podcast is the next thing for you. There is something much more personal about a podcast, you can connect deeper with your audience, giving them more insight into who you are, what you/your brand are about.

Equally, if you are still building your audience and engagement, podcasts are a great tool to do this – putting yourself in the spotlight of your content and allowing your audience to connect with you on a deeper level.

3. Content Repurposing Magic

We get it, it can be tricky to keep up with consistently posting on social media. Podcasts can be a content creation goldmine!

A single episode can be split into multiple bite-sized social media clips for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, to keep your audience engaged and hungry for more.  And there are so many AI tools out there that can help you do that (or you know, your friendly local Podcast Agency cough Bulletproof Studios cough can also do this for you – just saying).

4. Evergreen Content Library

Unlike those 60 second reels on TikTok that you scroll past and they are gone, Podcasts have a much higher shelf life and are easy for people to go back and listen to. Podcasts are evergreen, so your listeners can go back and listen to whatever episode they want, whenever they want. It also gives you a full library of content to use in the future.

Check out our blog on "7 Ways to Grow Your Podcast Audience" for more information on this.

5. Believe It or Not – It’s Still a Relevantly Untapped Market

Stay with us on this one. Yes, it might seem like everyone and their gran has a podcast just now. There are a lot of podcasts out there, but there is also a lot of listeners. In the UK alone, 21.2 million people are listening to podcasts and the average listener is listening to around 5 per week!

With 2.4 million podcasts compared to the 80 million Facebook pages and 1 billion active TikTok and Instagram users, there is a higher chance of standing out within the podcast sector!

6. Long Form Content – it’s a thing!

Yes, we have a short attention span and spend most of our day scrolling through TikTok or Instagram getting that dopamine hit from a 30 second reel, but podcasts actually manage to cut through our limited attention span culture.

This allows you to dive deeper into conversations and subjects that really matter to you and your audience, share your expertise and get this across without worrying about limiting your content to just 30 seconds.

7. People are LAZY

Don’t get me wrong, I love diving into a book and people will never actually stop reading, but you are finding that more and more people are switching to audio books and podcasts because, well simply in their fast-paced world, they find reading takes too much effort.

Commuting to and from work, walking the dog, doing housework – these are all opportunities to literally get into someone’s head with your content through a podcast.

8. Promote Your Services

Podcasts can be a great way to promote other areas of your business – for example a book/blog/training course/programme – whatever it is, this is a great opportunity to help people learn more about them.

You can discuss the benefits and organically integrate them into conversations without using pushy sales tactics – because who likes that?!

9.  They can help you build confidence and become a better speaker

We get it, speaking on camera can be a scary thing. And don’t even get us started on hearing you own voice back – why do we all find that to be the biggest ick?!

But it’s also a great skill to have – especially in today’s content creation world where people want to connect with brands and creators on a deeper level.

Recording regular podcast episodes and putting in the reps can help you gain confidence while speaking to a new audience. We call that a win-win!

10.   Final and most important one – it’s FUN

Just do it – it’s really not that serious.
